On behalf of Fort Portal College of Health Sciences administration and staff, I welcome you to our website. We are very happy to become acquainted with you and help you succeed in your education journey. As a Principal of Fort Portal College of Health Sciences, it is my pleasure to share with you the mission of the college. The college seeks to be a reputable health training college for sustainable social economic development. Our mission is to produce high quality competent and committed health professional to preserve, promote and improve the health of individual and the entire community. The college is a government institution under BTVET in the Ministry of Education and Sports. The college started in 1965 as a medical assistants school, later transformed into a medical clinical officers school. Because of the growing demand for human resources for health particularly Anaesthesia, Pharmacy, Health leadership, medical records and theatre techniques among others. The government of Uganda laid introduction of the above courses into the clinical school and hence names ranged from Fort Portal school of clinical officers to Fort Portal College of Health Sciences to incorporate other courses other than clinical officers. As a regular part of the school calendar, we have various activities for our students including field visits, attachments to various health facilities with Tooro region and beyond for skill acquisition but also engage in co-curricular activities like Music Dance and Drama, sports among others and this has put college to a national advance. Each student has something unique to offer and we are here to encourage and ensure their talents as well as equip them with life skills. We are extremely proud of the atmosphere provided by the management of Fort Portal Regional referral Hospital. The municipality of Fort Portal, the district and administration and support of parents and guardians. I welcome you to visit our campus on Mugurusi Road next to the Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital. The school that produces competent Human Resources for health and for immediate care and treatment.

I welcome you to Fort Portal College of Health Sciences (Fort Portal COHES) website. Our mission as a college of Health Sciences is to “Produce High Quality Competent Committed Health Professionals to Preserve, Promote the Health of Individuals and Entire Community”. At the College students academic affairs are key to highly qualified competent and friendly staff who will ensure that the students’ experience at Fort Portal College of Health Sciences is one that will be imprinted on their minds as the most rewarding and enriching academic experience. We are committed to providing a conducive education environment for students to enable them progress to achieve the academic and professional goals they envision. The College trains Allied Health Professionals that work in Health care team to make health care system function by providing a range of diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and direct patients care and support services. They are critical to the other health professionals they work with and the patients they serve making up apparently 60% of health care providers in the health care system. The college offers Allied Health Professional Training Programmes at certificate, basic and post basic diploma levels. These programmes include:

I welcome you to Fort Portal College of Health Sciences (Fort Portal COHES) website. The office of the Dean of students is concerned with the Students welfare providing opportunities and facilities for the holistic development of the different qualities among the students. Students participate effectively in the management of hostel, food services, games and sports, cultural and literacy activities, Professional societies at the college. The students are encouraged to explore their talents to enrich the social fabric to promote co-operation and fellowship at the college and after besides pursuing their academic goals. The college provides opportunities in extra co-curricular like games and sports facilities (indoor and outdoor), cultural associations, religious groups for spiritual well-being, career guidance and feeding among others. The Dean of Students office always focuses on the students as whole and not only as an academic being in the college so as to produce an upright and responsible citizen.
